There are bars, watering holes, drinking dens and boozers … and then there is the Front Bar at the Ancrum Cross Keys.
Untouched since its last minor re-furb in 1906, it is the sort of place that Hemingway and Orwell might have dreamt of and Ollie Reid should have drunk in.
Serving up real ale from the award-winning Born Brewery, classic malt whiskies, and with an extensive wine list, it is the ideal setting in which to dissect the issues of the day, to philosophise, or just to have a laugh.
Basic in appearance, the bar still comes complete with fixtures and fittings, although the former tend to be human, and the latter won’t ever be allowed to get in the way of some good craic.
Our new Side Bar offers a more adaptable and flexible space for events, big groups and families, as well as a piano for the occasional improptu sing-along.
